When I decided to choose this assignment, I wanted to do an underwater world with jellyfish in the sky. I looked at my photos from the last time I went to the aquarium and found these jellyfish and the shark. Next, I needed something to make it look like they were actually in the sky, so I chose the image of the tree with clouds behind it. To put them together, I first put the image of jellyfish into Photoshop and reflected it over the center how we learned with the mirror image assignment. I then adjusted the contrast, saturation, and brightness so that the blue water would appear a lighter, sky blue and the jellyfish would look like they were floating in the sky. Then, I added the tree image and deleted every piece of blue sky so that only the tree and the clouds were left. To get rid of the bright blue tinge left on the edges of the clouds, I used the eraser tool with hardness at 0 to keep them looking soft. To make the tree seem like it was underwater, I changed the color balance to make it appear more blue and raised the contrast for more dramatic lighting. Finally, I added in the shark by cutting it out of the original image and softening the edges to make it blend into the image. I also changed the color balance and lowered the saturation so it would seem more bluish than green. For the final image, I put the jellyfish layer on the bottom, then the shark, and the tree and clouds on top so that the shark would be behind the tree and give the image more depth.
The article provided did not help much with my production as I already had an idea for my project going into the assignment. I followed a process similar to the first video by moving layers around to make the image seem more realistic, but I think my process was more similar to the second video, making sure that each element of the image would fit with the others by changing colors and shading. I did not use the videos and articles that much because I already had an idea for the assignment and had the basic skills needed to complete the goal I had in mind for my underwater world.
