Week of 1/28 - Mandalas

When creating the first mandala, I started with a white circle and copied it, this time making the color a gradient from the light purple color in the center to a transparent color at the border. I then added the grid for the entire circle and made it the same purple as the border of the circle. Next, I added the music notes by first creating the one in the bottom box, then rotating copies of it to fit in the positions at the right, top, and left, and moved them so that they fit in the boxes. Next, I added the flower designs by creating the center one and moving copies of it to the outer edges of the circle. I then made the circles by the same processes as the other shapes. To make sure that no shapes were extending outside of the big circle, I selected all space outside of it and deleted anything there.

To create the second blue mandala, I created a big, dark blue circle and put another circle on top of it that faded from a lighter blue in the center to transparent at the borders. On top of these, I added the lines in the back by using diagonal stripes going left and right and overlapped them so that they created boxes in between. Next, I created the star shapes by making two triangles of the same shape, overlapping them so that they formed the star, and merging them to make them one shape. I repeated this process for each star, making each smaller so that it would fit inside the larger one. Next I added the small circle at the center with the circle tool and added paw prints on the points of the largest star by making one first and rotating it so that it fit in the point and then copying, rotating, and moving it so that there were six, one fitting in each point.

This assignment was useful in getting to know the elements of Photoshop, especially the shape and color tools. Though these tools are not very useful in normal photo editing, they can be very useful when changing the look and elements of a photo.
