Our first project of the year included a stipple art illustration and a monthly layout sample for our graphic design calendar.

Stipple Art

The theme for our calendar was the Santa Cruz area, which I though would be well-represented by an illustration of our redwoods because they are unique to the West Coast. Like last year, creating stipple art was my favorite project of the year.

Monthly Layouts

For the monthly layout, I chose a font that would help represent our local area and complement the stipple artwork featured in the calendar.

Reflection

The elements of value and texture and the principles of contrast and rhythm repetition are all very prevalent in my stipple art, which relies a lot on these qualifiers because it is all black and white.
